The Cartoon Gravity Club
So yesterday, I wrote this post about the idea of starting a proper online community for Cartoon Gravity and Pleasant Green subscribers.
Sometimes these ideas just gather their own momentum and, well, I built it. It exists. It's open and there are people interacting on it RIGHT NOW.
The idea of The Cartoon Gravity Club is to create the online equivalent of a really laid-back private members club. We have a Coffee Bar, where people hang out and chat, a Library where people discuss books, a Screening Room for movie talk, a Listening Booth for podcast and audio chat, a Games Room for tabletop and RPG stuff, and a Process Studio where we talk about pens and apps and all kinds of nerdy shit.
There's also the Pleasant Green Suite, for fans of that universe, and there's an invitation-only Writers' Room, for professional writers who want to talk shop with their peers.
You can mingle and meet people, you can post wherever you want, or you can just lurk. Some people have been in the Coffee Bar all day today, hanging out and chatting as they get their work done, others have popped in to the Library or the Games Room to talk about what they're reading or to discuss their favourite games. It's a day old, but it's already fun.
If you're into meeting and hanging out with like-minded people but you don't really enjoy the scoldy bullshit cut-and-thrust of regular social media, I think this could be the place for you.
I'm still building stuff out and moving things around, but the place is up and running, and it;s the members who are going to make it whatever it is. I'd love you to come and check it out. Here's the link:
