I'm midway through "The Fraud" by Zadie Smith, which is brilliant. This is the first time I've read a Zadie Smith novel, and the level of craft is insane - it's an intricate puzzle made up of tiny pieces, each of which seems inconsequential on its own, but which slot perfectly together to create a whole world.
Next up: I'm back into the world of Robin Hobb, with "Ship of Magic", the first in the Liveship Traders trilogy. I read her first trilogy at the end of last year and, for my money, no one else does fantasy this well.
On the nightstand: two non-fiction books about the ocean. "Soundings" by Doreen Cunningham and "Below the Edge of Darkness" by Dr Edith Widder.
