For a while here, I would put up a piece every day, that was just a note of whatever I was thinking about and what I was readings etc. Seems like it would be nice to get back to doing that as often as I can manage.


I note some bitching over on Substack about the direction the platform is heading in. The proposed introduction of reels and leaderboards has some people angry because this was supposed to be a place where writers write. I don't actually know what's going to happen there. It's a great platform, but I guess the company behind it needs it to keep growing by hook or by crook.

For me, the problem became that it was very crowded and there were, like Medium before it, far too many pieces about how to grow your Substack and make a lot of money.

Writers like to make money, but people who just want to make money shouldn't try to do it through writing.


I realised I had never shared this absolute gem with you guys; there is nothing about this man or his house that I don't love.
