A slow start to the year from my end, but I can feel a head of steam starting to build now.

Today, I'm nudging forward a Development Hell piece, Saltmarsh Number 9, and a movie script that I want to pass the halfway mark with this weekend.

While I'm still on Bluesky, I've been less active on there so far this year, focusing my limited social media energies on Substack, which I think is a nicer environment.

Several friends and colleagues have been displaced by the fires in Los Angeles this week, and some have lost their homes. Watched from afar, it's tempting to view this as business-as-usual wildfire-wise, but the scale of the destruction this time out is unprecedented and it has rocked the city to its core. Coming just days before the world's most unfit leader takes office, 2025 is not off to a great start for America.

Nevertheless, we shall all prevail. All we can do in the face of uncertainty is our best.
